Overview
Most "Netflix price by country" pages copy each other. Many still show last year's US price, convert everything into dollars with no word about tax, and end with a VPN link promising you the Turkish price.
We did it the slow way. On 17 October 2026 we read Netflix's own Plans and Pricing page for each of 31 countries and recorded the prices exactly as Netflix displays them. Every row below carries that date.
Two things stand out. Netflix charges very different prices in the same currency: Premium costs 11.99€ a month in Latvia and 25.99€ in Ireland. And the ad-supported plan is spreading: nine more European markets get it on 1 March 2027, at prices Netflix hasn't announced yet.
Who this guide is for
Anyone checking what Netflix costs where they live or where they're moving, travellers wondering whether their plan works abroad, and anyone who has seen a "cheapest country for Netflix" list and wondered whether it's real.
Key Takeaways
- We read Netflix's own pricing page for 31 countries on 17 October 2026. Prices are as Netflix displays them, in local currency.
- Same currency, very different price. In the euro zone, Standard ranges from 9.99€ (Latvia, Estonia) to 18.99€ (Ireland), and Premium from 11.99€ to 25.99€.
- The ad plan is live in 12 countries and arrives in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden and Switzerland on 1 March 2027. Netflix hasn't announced prices for those nine.
- Where ads exist, Basic is gone. Countries without an ad plan still sell Basic; countries with one have dropped it for new members.
- You pay the price of the country you signed up in. Netflix's Help Center says your country can't change unless you move, and you must be physically in the new country to restart. A VPN doesn't buy you another country's price.
- Netflix's tax help page says VAT or GST is included in the advertised price unless it says otherwise. The US is the exception: Netflix says its price there excludes sales tax. Compare within a currency, not across them.

How to read it:
- "Cheapest plan" is Standard with ads where Netflix sells one, otherwise Basic (or Mobile in India).
- Extra member is the monthly fee for adding someone outside your household. Where Netflix shows two prices, the lower one is for ad-plan accounts. "Not shown" means the page didn't list one.
- Ad plan is Live, From 1 March 2027, Announced for 2027, or Not announced.
We didn't read every country Netflix operates in. A missing country means "not checked", not "not available".
Same euro, different price
The euro zone is the cleanest comparison on the page: same currency, no exchange rate to argue about, and prices taken from the same Netflix page on the same day.

The spread is wide:
- Standard: 9.99€ in Latvia and Estonia, 10.99€ in Lithuania, up to 18.99€ in Ireland.
- Premium: 11.99€ in Latvia and Estonia, up to 25.99€ in Ireland, more than double.
- Cheapest way in: Germany and Italy, where Standard with ads costs 6.99€.
Netflix doesn't explain how it sets each country's price. Its tax help page says VAT or GST is included in the advertised price unless it says otherwise, so by Netflix's own rule these euro prices already include VAT. The gap isn't a tax difference added later.

The nine 1 March 2027 markets were announced at Netflix's first UK Upfront on 24 September 2026. Netflix gave no prices, plan names or feature limits. In May 2026 Netflix had announced 15 new ad markets "starting in 2027"; nine of them now have a date, and the other six don't yet.
Every live ad market in our table has dropped Basic for new members. Netflix's page in Germany, the UK, Spain, France, Italy, the US, Canada, Brazil and Australia says "The Basic plan has been discontinued." Japan and South Korea say it is "no longer available for new or rejoining members", and existing Basic members can stay on it until they change plan or cancel. In every country we read without an ad plan, Basic is still on sale.
What the ad plan includes, per Netflix's page: 1080p, two streams at once, downloads on two devices, and "all games and most movies and TV shows". A lock icon marks the titles that aren't included. If you travel to a country without the ad plan, Netflix may show error E120: "Your ad-supported plan is not available in this region."
What each plan includes
Netflix Plans and Pricing page, read 17 October 2026. Features can differ slightly by country.
| Feature | Standard with ads | Standard | Premium |
|---|---|---|---|
| Streams at once | 2 | 2 | 4 |
| Resolution | 1080p | 1080p | 4K + HDR |
| Download devices | 2 | 2 | 6 |
| Extra member slots | Depends on market | 1 | Up to 2 |
| Ads | Yes | No | No |
Basic, where still sold, is the no-ads entry plan. India also sells a Mobile plan (₹149 INR) for one phone or tablet at 480p, with no casting.
Extra members aren't available everywhere. The page didn't list an extra-member price in Lithuania, Latvia, Turkey, India, Japan and Estonia. Where they exist, Netflix's EU Terms of Use (last updated 10 April 2026) say an extra member can only activate their account "in the country where the Account Owner created their account."
Why the cheapest country isn't an offer
Netflix Help Center and Terms of Use (EU version, last updated 10 April 2026), read October 2026.
Every price in this table is a fact about that country, not a deal you can take. Netflix ties your price to where you signed up:
- Your price follows your sign-up country. "You'll continue to be charged the Netflix plan price in the currency of the country you signed up in until you cancel and restart." (Moving with Netflix)
- You can't pick another country. "The country on your account can't be changed unless you move to a new one." (Changing the country of your account)
- Moving means restarting in person. You must cancel and sign up again, and "you must be in the country you moved to at the time you restart your account."
- Payment methods vary by country. "Pricing, billing currency, and available payment methods vary by country." Gift cards work across borders only "as long as the gift card is in the same currency as your Netflix bill." (Netflix Gift Cards)
- Accounts bought from resellers must be replaced with a new account "in the same country where you will use it" (error E114).

Netflix's rules, on paying another country's price via GIPHY
And a VPN? Netflix's Help Center says using one "will hide your region and only allow you to see TV shows and movies available to all regions globally." It changes what you can watch, not what you pay. For more on why Netflix flags VPNs and sometimes flags people who aren't using one, see our guide to the Netflix proxy error when you're not using a VPN. The wider question of switching region to pay less, for Netflix, Spotify, YouTube and the rest, is covered in our guide to changing your region to pay less for subscriptions. If your card is declined on a foreign store, the same country-matching logic is behind why foreign cards get declined on game stores.
Netflix's EU Terms of Use (last updated 10 April 2026) don't mention VPNs by name. They say you may watch "primarily within the country in which you have established your account," and that Netflix may "terminate or restrict your use of our service if you violate these Terms of Use."
Travelling with Netflix
Your plan and price stay the same when you travel, but what you can watch changes. Netflix's Help Center warns of "small differences" in the catalogue, maturity ratings and downloads when you watch outside your sign-up country (Using Netflix outside of your home), and the EU Terms of Use (last updated 10 April 2026) add that some downloaded titles won't play in countries where they can't be streamed.
Two travel-specific catches:
- Ad plan abroad: in a country without the ad plan you may hit error E120 and need to switch plans to keep watching.
- Payment abroad: Netflix notes that you "may need to enable your card for international transactions," and that gift cards and other cash payment methods "may not be available or eligible for use in your travel location."
How much the catalogue differs from country to country is in our Netflix library comparison by country. If you're travelling with several subscriptions, our list of apps that stop working abroad covers the rest. Household rules are a separate system from location: our Disney+ household rules guide explains how Disney's version compares with Netflix's.

Netflix emails existing members at least a month before a price change (its EU Terms say "at least one month"), and new prices usually apply to new members first. Argentina's page says so directly: the prices "apply to new members and will gradually take effect for all current members."
Taxes: what the price includes
Netflix's tax help page says: "Unless otherwise stated, VAT or GST tax is included in the advertised Netflix price in countries where the tax is collected." The pricing page itself carries the same generic line in every country we checked: "Depending on where you live, you may be charged taxes in addition to your membership price."
Two cases are different:
- United States: here Netflix states otherwise. Its US Help Center says "The Netflix advertised price does not include sales tax." Sales tax may apply depending on your state, and Netflix works it out from your billing ZIP code.
- Argentina: Argentine media report extra charges on payments for foreign digital services, including a perception charge that appears on card statements, and they disagree on the 2026 total. We show only the price Netflix displays.
That's why the converted figures in the price table are only a rough guide. They use the European Central Bank's reference rates, which change every working day, and your bank's rate and card fees will differ. The US price excludes sales tax while most others include tax by Netflix's own rule, so even a converted ranking isn't like for like. And whatever the conversion says, you still pay the price of the country you signed up in.

Final Thoughts
If you're checking what Netflix costs where you live, the table above is the price Netflix itself shows, dated. If you're comparing countries, compare within a currency: the euro zone alone shows Netflix charging more than twice as much for Premium in Ireland as in Latvia. And if a site tells you to sign up in the cheapest country, Netflix's own rules say your price follows the country you signed up in, which you can only change by moving there.
We'll update this page when Netflix changes a price in one of these markets, and again when the nine new ad markets get prices on 1 March 2027.
